Allen Police Chief Bill Rushing has announced that for the third time in four years, Allen is ranked among the 10 safest cities in the United States. A City Crime Rankings study, published by CQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly Inc., was based on the FBI’s 2010 statistics report. The report examined more than 400 communities with at least 75,000 people based on per-capita rates for homicide, robbery, rape, burglary, aggravated assault and motor vehicle theft.

Nationwide, Allen is ranked ninth overall among cities with a population of more than 75,000 and eighth among cities with a population between 75,000 and 99,999. In the CQ report, Allen was listed first in Texas, making it the safest city in Texas.
